New Silk Road Network’s member from Kazakhstan, TOO InterAvtoTrans (PRIMUM), recently adopted a better solution for e-commerce logistics.

It is well known that the majority of exports from China that require fast transit are e-commerce goods. More often than not, e-commerce exporters favour trucking over rail or air freight. Trucking is more flexible as compared to rail and air and additionally much cheaper than air freight.

However, challenges emerge while transferring loose-loaded cargo to a tarpaulin trailer, which does not have solid walls. Standard practice would be to use plywood to make walls to prevent cargo shifting resulting in a bloated trailer reaching the destination.

PRIMUM also uses a Frigo fleet (refrigerated trucks) for e-commerce. However, a Frigo trailer is suitable only for shipments with a volume up to 86 m3, compared to a mega tarpaulin trailer, which can easily fit up to 100 m3 of cargo. To tackle this issue, PRIMUM explored an optimised solution.

In April, they expanded their fleet to include high capacity, hard-body mega trailers with an internal height of 2.86 m. These new trailers will be able to accommodate up to 96m3 worth of goods. PRIMUM is now able efficiently to move e-commerce shipments from China to various European hubs. NSRN congratulates them on this enterprising solution to transport along the New Silk Road.
